What happens to good computers when their workplace lifespan expires? Integer's Information Technology (IT) team has come up with a solution that is both socially and environmentally responsible.
The team developed the “Integer IT Doing Good” program that donates gently used computers to organizations that serve those without the resources to otherwise obtain a computer. As Integer migrates hardware, more computers are becoming available that can meet the needs of others.
As part of the program, in 2021, Integer’s Netanya, Israel, site made the first donation of retired Integer laptops to Yehud, their local community.
Donated laptops were circulated by the city of Yehud to local children who did not have the ability to purchase computers and struggled to participate in remote schooling during the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, laptops were distributed to technology centers, allowing students to participate in science labs.
Since that time, the “Integer IT Doing Good” program has resulted in donations to dozens of organizations and communities in need around the world.
